105 years ago, between Dec. 1911 and Jan. 1912, both Norwegian Roald Amundsen (leading his South Pole expedition) and Englishman Robert F. Scott (leading the Terra Nova expedition) led teams through harrowing conditions against a ticking clock and reached the South Pole within a month of each other.
Scott and 4 companions reached the South Pole to find Amundsen’s tent with the Norwegian flag.
